Therapy
You may be a candidate for massage therapy if you lead an active lifestyle that includes manual labor or athletic activities. The exertion of power and energy for long periods of time can lead to a great deal of wear and tear on your body. Similarly, having a stationary job and a sedentary lifestyle can lead to physical tension.
Massage therapy can increase circulation to muscles and break up scar tissue and muscle adhesions to improve joint mechanics, flexibility, and muscle function. This can enhance athletic performance and fitness training, prevent injuries and assist in the post-injury rehabilitation process.
Movéo Sport and Rehabilitation Centre is a Langley and North Vancouver massage therapy clinic that caters to those in need of physical relief. We employ the use of techniques that break up knots and ease tension in your body.
Conditions Our Registered Massage Therapists Treat
Our registered massage therapists (RMTs) are trained in massage therapy at institutions accredited by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. As experienced and highly trained specialists, they can help you recover from injuries, manage chronic pain and reduce stress. Their methods and treatments can prevent and speed up recovery from pain and sports-related injuries, including:
- Whiplash
- Carpel tunnel syndrome
- Sciatica
- Shoulder impingement
- Tendonitis and tendinopathy
- Arthritis
- Lower back pain
- Muscle strains
- Headaches
- Muscle cramping
- TMJ dysfunction
Our Massage Therapy Services
Our RMTs start with a full assessment, after which they design a treatment plan according to your needs. They specialize in many types of massage therapies, including:
Swedish massage
Swedish massage therapy is a remedy for neck and shoulder stiffness and other general issues. It focuses on long and soft strokes. The aim is to restore blood circulation and oxygen while promoting detoxification and tension release.
Deep tissue massage
As the name implies, deep tissue massage therapy targets the deepest layers of muscle and connective tissue. Your RMT will use deep and firm pressure to treat lower back pain and many other issues. Feel free to ask your massage therapist to adjust the pressure if you experience pain or discomfort.
Trigger point massage therapy
Sharp pain that starts in one part of your body and shoots to the next is caused by trigger points. Trigger points are usually found in the neck, shoulders, and other parts of the body that are prone to tension. Trigger point therapy combines deep breathing with alternating levels of pressure, going from light to firm, to release these areas of tension.
Pregnancy massage
Some expecting mothers experience a heightened level of physical and mental stress. Pregnancy massage therapy can lower anxiety, fatigue, and other common issues during pregnancy. Your RMT will target your legs, back, and neck, allowing you to move more comfortably. The massage also aims to improve circulation, which can be helpful for you and your baby.
Myofascial release therapy
Myofascial release therapy is a type of massage that is ideal if you have an overly tight muscle that restricts your movement. Sometimes this tightness can occur in a spot where you had surgery or an old sports injury. During myofascial release therapy, your massage therapist will apply steady pressure to the area for several minutes at a time. This technique will allow the muscle groups to completely soften and stretch out, thereby promoting improved movement patterns.
